The Gascony region of France is popular with holiday makers from all over Europe. The area has been shaped by traditional farming and has a tranquil and relaxed feel. You could well be forgiven for thinking that things have remained unchanged here for decades. Peaceful villages and quaint market towns are plentiful, yet beneath the surface is a rather sophisticated holiday destination.
There are many attractions including Laverdens Castle and Flarnn Abbeys art collection for those looking for culture. Biking, horse riding, cycling and walking are all available for those who wish to explore the lush green countryside.
The remote town of Marciac hosts one of Frances finest Jazz festivals and is well worth a visit if you are in the area during the first two weeks of August.
There are several holiday parks in the Gascony area. Families with teenagers will love La Paillotte Holiday Park with its huge pool complex and well organised activity programme. The lively site has plenty of activities and offers evening entertainment too. The site itself is very attractive and has been designed to fit in with the stunning surroundings.
We also like Le Vieux Port. The eight pool water complex is the jewel in the crown but the resort also offers many other facilities. Children are well catered for with clubs and play grounds and the whole family can enjoy spending sunny days at the nearby sandy beach.
