The best way to explore the local area is to walk along the Rilke Trail. Approximately two kilometres long, this much-loved coastal path connects the nearby villages of Sistiana and Duino. We suggest starting in Sistiana, just a five-minute walk from the parc. Enjoy the quaint bay, grab a fresh cup of Italian coffee, and make your way down the trail – with the glistening Gulf of Trieste on your left and the lush Falesie di Duino Nature Reserve on your right. On arrival at Duino, make sure you check out the 11th and 14th-century castles, the latter sitting up on a cliff with panoramic sea views.
